We are your neighbours with a vested interest in your well-being providing the ideal home insurance coverage based on trusted advice. We believe in complete transparency in the insurance buying process, sharing as much information as we can for your home insurance quote to ensure you understand your options.

We aren’t here just to sell you an insurance policy, we are valued insurance advisors who walk you through the process and educate you so you can make an informed decision. Our homeowner packages provide protection against financial disaster and insure both your home and its contents. With MMI we’ll provide you with personalized protection whether you own a house, condo, mobile home, or another type of primary residence. We also offer renters insurance for our tenant clients.

Our policy plans include:

  • Guaranteed Replacement Cost Coverage: This coverage provides funds to allow you to rebuild or replace your property when your home is no longer safe to live in.
  • Additional Living Expenses: Additional living expenses cover costs related to temporary shelter including food, hotels or home rental, and costs associated to address additional day to day needs in the event of a loss. Depending on the policy it can also include fair rental value if part of your home has a paying tenant, or prohibited access when damage to your home occurs due to an event at a neighbour’s home, or mass evacuation.
  • Home Liability Insurance: This protects you against liability claims due to the injury of a person on your property, or something that occurs on your property that causes damage to another person’s property and you are deemed negligent. Home Liability also includes negligence caused by the insured that doesn’t occur on the insured’s property, anywhere in the world.
  • Sewer Backup Coverage: Sewer backup coverage protects you against damage caused by sewer system backups, not related to water-specific damage from other sources.
  • Overland Water: Overland water coverage is an additional level of flood insurance to protect against damage from things such as snow melt, excess rain or an overflow from nearby riverbeds.
  • Identify Theft/Fraud: This coverage reduces losses related to identity theft and fraud, including costs to reverse the fraud, secure your accounts and reestablish damage done to your credit score. It does not replace money lost due to fraud or theft.

House Coverages

Your property is not limited to just your home. At MMI we understand events can lead to losses impacting your entire property. As a result, we include coverage for the following:

Lawns, Outdoor Trees, Shrubs, Plants, and Landscaping Materials

If you’ve invested time and money in maintaining your property with lovely landscaping, losses related to damages from fire, vandalism and even theft can be devastating. We offer additional coverage for your outdoor spaces so your entire property is returned to its original state.

Detached structures, fences and landscaping

Our detached private structure coverage provides protection against damage to outbuildings separated from your home such as a garage or shed. However, it also includes things such as fences and landscaping structures.

Personal property

Damage to your home more often than not also impacts your belongings. MMI offers comprehensive coverage for your personal property for anything lost or damaged due to fire, loss, theft, and some other forms of damage. Replacement costs for your entire home are financially devastating and would be difficult to manage even for higher-income families. Although you can’t replace the most precious items such as family heirlooms or photos, personal property coverage does provide money to cover the costs of the content of your home.

Specialty Property

We understand no two households are alike with each family member interested in their own activities and also with their own belongings. Because of this, we offer specialty property insurance for specialty items including:

Bicycles, sporting equipment and watercraft

The equipment related to the activities you love is expensive. When disaster strikes specialty property coverage takes care of your bicycles, sporting equipment, and watercraft so you can continue living your best life.

Business property

Family-owned businesses and self-employment are becoming more common for homeowners today. As a result, we offer business property insurance for any buildings you might use on your property for your own commercial purposes.

Fine arts and collectibles

If you invest in fine arts and other collectibles kept at your home, the loss of these irreplaceable items is invaluable. We offer fine arts and collectibles coverage to help compensate you for losses associated with these valuable assets.

Jewelry is another valuable item most people keep in their homes. Having ample coverage for your precious stones and metal jewelry is a must in case of fire, loss, or theft.

  • How do I determine the right amount of coverage for my home?

Determining the right amount of coverage for your home involves evaluating the replacement cost of your home and estimating the value of your personal belongings. It’s recommended to conduct a thorough inventory of your possessions and consult with an insurance professional who can help assess your needs accurately.

  • Can I customize my home insurance policy?

Yes, many insurance providers, including MMI Insurance, offer the option to customize your home insurance policy. You can often add endorsements or riders to enhance your coverage based on specific needs, such as additional coverage for high-value items, home-based business, or sewer backup.

  • What factors can affect the cost of home insurance?

Several factors can impact the cost of home insurance, including the age and condition of your home, its location and proximity to certain risks (such as flood zones), the replacement cost of your home, your claims history, and the coverage options you select. It’s important to provide accurate information to receive an appropriate quote.

  • Can I transfer my home insurance policy when I move to a new property?

Depending on the insurance provider, you may be able to transfer your home insurance policy to your new property.
