With MMI, we’ll provide you with personalized protection whether you own a house, condo, mobile home, or another type of primary residence in Alberta. Our policy plans include:

• Guaranteed Replacement Cost Coverage: This coverage provides funds to allow you to rebuild or replace your property when your home is no longer safe to live in.
• Additional Living Expenses: Additional living expenses cover costs related to temporary shelter including food, hotels or home rental, and costs associated to address additional day to day needs in the event of a loss. Depending on the policy it can also include fair rental value if part of your home has a paying tenant, or prohibited access when damage to your home occurs due to an event at a neighbour’s home, or mass evacuation.
• Home Liability Insurance: This protects you against liability claims due to the injury of a person on your property, or something that occurs on your property that causes damage to another person’s property and you are deemed negligent. Home Liability also includes negligence caused by the insured that doesn’t occur on the insured’s property, anywhere in the world.
• Sewer Backup Coverage: Sewer backup coverage protects you against damage caused by sewer system backups, not related to water-specific damage from other sources.
• Overland Water: Overland water coverage is an additional level of flood insurance to protect against damage from things such as snow melt, excess rain or an overflow from nearby riverbeds.
• Identify Theft/Fraud: This coverage reduces losses related to identity theft and fraud, including costs to reverse the fraud, secure your accounts and reestablish damage done to your credit score. It does not replace money lost due to fraud or theft.

Your property is not limited to just your home. At MMI we understand events can lead to losses impacting your entire property. As a result, we include coverage for the following:

Lawns, Outdoor Trees, Shrubs, Plants, and Landscaping Materials

If you’ve invested time and money in maintaining your property with lovely landscaping, losses related to damages from fire, vandalism and even theft can be devastating. We offer additional coverage for your outdoor spaces so your entire property is returned to its original state.

Building Detached structures, fences and landscaping

Our detached private structure coverage provides protection against damage to outbuildings separated from your home such as a garage or shed. However, it also includes things such as fences and landscaping structures.

Information needed to complete an Alberta homeowners insurance quote

To start we need your full name, date of birth, along with the address of the home that we will be quoting. Other information that helps to complete an accurate quote includes:

• Details about the home including square footage, number of bathrooms etc.
• Do you have outdoor structures such as sheds, garages, workshops, greenhouses etc.
• Whether you have a pool or other outdoor equipment such as a trampoline that increases the risk of liabilities
• The type of security your home has including safety systems, surveillance cameras, burglar alarms, detectors, etc. which help lower your premiums
• Details about pets that can potentially cause personal injury to non-household members
• The number of claims you’ve made in the past
• Your home’s current condition including modifications, landscaping, the type of roof, fireplaces, etc.
• A list of special properties along with proof of value if possible

As your homeowners’ insurance company, we also need to be updated on home improvements made while you live in the home.
